In soccer losing 3-0 during the first half, is like trailing by 25 points at halftime in an NBA game. In this particular case, trailing by 25 and against the Detroit Pistons from the bad boys era.
That good, brutal and strong defensively was that Milan.
On the field, all seemed lost for the English team. Liverpool did not have the parts needed to assemble the puzzle presented to them by the Italian team. It seemed to be a real enigma, a indecipherable riddle. It was easier to give all for lost, learn from the experience and wait for another chance.
Suddenly a song broke into the locker room of both teams. Do not mind that come from a far place, the sound was loud enough to be heard clearly by both teams. It was Liverpool fans who didn't give up. Over thirty thousand fans in the stadium singing You never walk alone, perhaps the best song of any sport (and I'm not a fan of Liverpool, I prefer Barcelona). For them this hymn was more than a song, was a philosophy. A way of life. So in the darkest moments of the english team, their fans reminded them that they were not alone. They were walking beside them and they still believed in them, regardless the outcome. Despair became hope. From the outside the problems don't look that difficult.
It took them nine minutes of the second half to the English team to score the first goal, six more to tie. Only took them 15 minutes to turn the matter on their behalf. The fans were able to solve the riddle, it was no enigma. If they had the desire, faith and confidence that acting together would overcome any adversity, they could succeed. That was the piece of the puzzle that the team needed to win, and they did. In the end and after 2 overtimes, Liverpool F.C. beat A.C. Milan on penalty kicks. The little one get reminded that he was not that little, he was just on his knees.
Everyone has problems. Difficult times. Situations that appear not to have exit or solution. Where imagination and ideas do not appear. If we step back and look at the situation, we can probably see beyond the riddle, beyond the enigma and beyond the puzzle.

At that point, we have already overcome the problem.
